Out for Supper

Tonite after work I picked up Uncle Grant and we went to meet Dad, Wendy, Don and Uncle Grant's daughter, my cousin Roberta at Tomas Cook Restaurant. We had supper (I had mashed potato) and visited. Wendy and I thought Dad needed a bit of a break from the Cancer Lodge. Dad is doing well but I think sometimes the days are long for him. Uncle Grant is 89 and lives in the lovely Broadway Terrace but he does not drive anymore so it was nice for him to be able to visit with Dad and all the rest of us. Auntie Margaret is not able to be out...she is quite frail and confused...so very sad. We are expecting a huge storm and it is snowing already..the wind is supposed to 70mph and snow...the morning is supposed to be just awful. The streets are icy already. I have to tell about last nite. I was in the kitchen doing a couple of dishes about 9:30 and I saw big lights outside and thought it was the snow plough. Upon investigation I discovered it was a huge fire truck right in front of our house and upon further investigation saw 3 large pumpers, the fire marshall's truck, the rescue truck, 3 police cars and 2 ambulances. The house about 5 doors down had something going on...I dawned my boots & jacket over my pj's and went out...There was a lot of smoke and the firemen had oxygen and masks on...some people went to the hospital in the ambulance and others were waiting in an ambulance. The firemen did not offer any info and the trucks were there until well after midnite. Tonight I noticed there is no one home at that house. When I saw the first truck right in front of our house I thought ....maybe someone called in a fire at my house !!! When you live in a house built about 1925 (like all houses on this block) you just never know. It was not our house and we are thankful for that blessing.

Hey Kathy,

I was out in the garden and lost track of the time. I missed calling you, the 'not available' was on. Sorry!!

Glad to read you had a good visit with your Dad, yes he must get really bored, I know I would.

You've had exciting times with the Fire Brigade I hear. I am posting a photo on the blog to show a not so exciting time.

Sorry I missed calling, Soon!!!!!!!!!

Take Care Joan Downunder

It's good to spend time with your dad. I wish I could (with my dad). Boy, you had quite the excitment the other night. Whenever I hear a siren I always pray for the victim and family even though I don't usually know who it is. God knows.
