The Saskatchewan Hospital

The Saskatchewan Hospital is or was a one of a kind, state of the art facility. It was built in 1920 for the mentally challenged, those struggling with depression, those in need of phsyciatric treatment and those requiring counselling. It is well known through out the country for the experimental use of electric shock and LSD treatment. Sadly it has been sold and will be torn down soon.
My own personal connection to this building stems from the fact that the land was my Grandads. In 1919 he sold this land to the government to make way for the facility. My Gran and Grandad lived in the big old house along the river on the left side of this massive structure for the 1st 12 years of their marriage.
Dad and I drove around out there the other day. The grounds are all treed and the roads meaner around through the area. Often you can spot deer, rabbits and foxes....and more recently the cougar have taken up residence in the woods.
