THE RIVER

When I was little every spring we waited for the water to come down to the river that runs on our farm. The mighty Souris runs on our land and it was a big deal to listen and watch. When the water comes it is roaring and then there are big ice jams and it sounds like a bomb going off. It was a highlight of the year.

Today my brother Peter came from Estevan and decided to take Dad to the farm to check out the water. They got to the farm and wonder of wonders ...the water was on its way!! They were able to watch the north 1/4 turn into a huge lake. They didn't stay for the ice jam but before they got back to town, my brother Jim called to say the ice jam had occured!! The water backed up at the bridge but slowly it made its way across and now will take 5 days to get to Weyburn.

Wendy and I are going to the farm inthe morning to see the water and take some photos. We are sooooooo grateful that Peter managed to have some divine inspiration and take Dad out there tday...he was thrilled to witness the powerful force of nature again.
