1st pic is of a couple of hard working cowgirls! Kerri & Twyla! They both worked along side the cowboys all day long. The 2nd pic is of Kerri, altho you can't see her because Luke is standing in front of her. She is tagging the ears. Tressa in the blue vest is going to vaccinate. The calf has a stretcher around its neck. The photo below shows Jim, on the dapple grey horse holding the rope. The rope is around the calfs hind legs. It doesn't hurt them and the stretcher ensures that noone gets hurt during this exercise!! In the background in the 1st pic you can see Calvin just getting ready to rope another calf. It was a big day at the farm...we started at about 9:30 or so and finished just after 4 PM. About 150 cows and calves were branded, vaccinated, and tagged. It is really amazing to hear the mothers and calves calling to each other and recognizing each others moos!! The weather was awful...cold...windy...dusty..that doesn't stop the cowboys...Dad got the wood burning stove going in the Winners Circle and they all enjoyed delicious beef stew and slow cooker lasagna along with salads, buns, butter tarts and chocolate cake.
